A New Pair of Shoes
Getting a new pair of shoes is always exciting (at least to me), but over the years it has changed a bit.
It was a big event when I was a kid. There wasn’t a Walmart, or a Payless around for you to just go and try on all the shoes that fit you, (or might fit you) in the shoe aisle. Instead, we went to a shoe store and told the sales person what type of shoes we were looking for. You then got measured and the shoe fitter would bring out the shoes that were in your size.
I remember wearing two types of shoes as a little girl: Keds tennis shoes for every day school shoes and black patent leather shoes called Mary Janes for church. When my shoes were getting too small for me, my mom would take me to the shoe store in town and have my feet measured to determine what size I needed.
