Steele

Janet Lynn (Claussen) Steele, 80, of La Grange, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2018. Jan was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Oct. 16, 1938, the daughter of Frances Leroy Claussen and Lenora Mae (Logan) Claussen. She married Donald Steele in 1956 in Colton, Calif. Jan worked as a medical assistant for ten years. In 1996, Don and Jan, retired and sold their home in Southern California. They purchased an RV trailer and truck and hit the road traveling and touring the states. During their travels, they discovered La Grange and their winter residence of Colorado Landing. After 10 years of Rving, they sold their RV and purchased a home in La Grange in 2006. Jan became a very active member at the Second Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in their choir as well as many other activities. She lived her life for the Lord, love, family, friends and music. She spent many hours of her life volunteering her time to enrich the lives of others and spreading God’s word. She was very proud of her family, friends and her Christian life. “May you rest in peace our love; until we met again.” She is survived by her husband, Don, of 62 years; three daughters: Christy Wixom of La Grange; Robin Hobratschk and husband, Rodney, of Denton; and Lisa Witthar and husband, Charles, of North Carolina; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church, P.O. Box 8, La Grange, Texas 78945. Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com.  Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
