William “Bill” Harold Shelton, 75, of La Grange, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. Bill was born in Petersburg, Va. on July 21, 1943, the son of William H. and Elizabeth Roberta (Reese) Shelton. He married Candice R. Cook on Aug. 17, 1991 in Deer Park, Texas. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the battle of Memphis after the death of Martin Luther King. After his discharge from the military, he was employed as a Security Supervisor for Exxon-Mobil Corporation in Baytown and retired with 29 years of service. Bill was an avid World War II buff. He enjoyed weightlifting and was a fan of the Texans football and Astros baseball teams. He is survived by his wife, Candice, of 27 years; two sons: John Shelton and wife, Virginia, of Arlington, Tenn.; Matthew Brown of West Point; and sister, Joyce Shelton of Richmond, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
