Carlos Dale Speck III

Carlos Dale Speck III, 76, of La Grange, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. Dale was born in Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, DC, on Oct. 2, 1942, the son of Carlos Dale Speck, Jr. and Marie Louise (Surgi) Speck. Dale served in the US Navy. He worked in Houston for IBM. He operated a tow truck in Houston upon retirement from IBM. After his retirement, he and Amelia moved to La Grange. For decades, he and his wife rescued and cared for abandoned and injured animals. He was an amateur beekeeper and an active member of the local Democratic Party. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Elizabeth Siegel of La Grange; sons, Charles Speck Hernandez of Houston, Steven Speck of Killeen; daughter, Samantha Speck of Las Vegas; granddaughter, Melanie Broughton of Crosby; siblings: Paul Surgi Speck of St. Louis, Marie Celeste McDonell of Conroe, Alice Eeds of Lockhart, David Speck of Portland, Monica McKeown of Hankamer; two brothers-in-law, one sister-inlaw, six nieces, nine nephews, many cousins and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rubye Greaber on April 1, 2005; by his father, Carlos Dale Speck, Jr. on Nov. 30, 2003; and by his mother, Marie Louise Surgi Speck on Feb. 1, 1995. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Memories and thoughts will be shared by family and friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather afterwards at a local restaurant. Private cremation will take place at a later time.
