Barbara Jean (Putt) Janssen

Barbara Jean (Putt) Janssen, 84, of La Grange, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018. Barbara was born in Schulenburg on April 26, 1934 the daughter of Wesley Jack and Hilda (Hofbauer) Putt. She married Herb T. Janssen on March 6, 1970 in Houston. Barbara worked for 20 years in the banking industry and specialized at one point in Business Development. She also owned and operated two retail businesses, but her true love was being a mother to her daughter, Amanda, and grandmother to her wonderful grandchildren, Meghan and Drew. She is survived by her husband, Herb, of 48 years; daughter, Amanda Janssen Tipps and husband, Robert, of Port Aransas; sister, Donna Pharries of Houston; brother, Harlan Putt, of Houston; two grandchildren: Meghan Alexandra and Andrew Janssen Tipps; nieces, Patricia Cunningham and Doral Pickens and numerous other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jason Wesley Janssen; and brother, Elmer Dean Putt. Pallbearers were nephews, Patrick Cunningham, Billy Jack Putt, and Jimmy Little; sonin- law, Robert Tipps; and dear friends, Chris Shanklin and Wess Blackwell. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations.
