LG City Council Says Stop Tying Up Dogs
La Grange Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager estimates about 30 dogs remain chained up day and night at different residences around town. Those animals may soon get some relief as the City is drafting a new ordinance regarding unlawful restraint of dogs.
La Grange City Council instructed staff to develop the ordinance at their regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 10.
City Manager Shawn Raborn said the rule would define unlawful restraint as “any means to keep a dog outside under certain circumstances, including extreme weather conditions, by use of a restraint that unreasonable limits the dog’s movements.”
