A Change of Plans
Just a Thought
As the saying goes “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry” (Robert Burns), my Christmas did not go as planned. But, sometimes a change of plans is a good thing.
Last week I wrote about my anticipated 4 a.m. phone call on Christmas day from my daughter, who is currently living out of state. Well, that phone call didn’t happen. But, that’s getting ahead of the story.
You see, my daughter went to work on Saturday, Dec. 22 with the full intention of completing the day, enjoying her Sunday off and then working on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the rest of the week. As she was making rounds, the attending physician asked the students what their plans were for Christmas and her response was “work.” He then asked her, “Why would you be working on Christmas Day?” She told him that she understood that since it was a weekday, she was supposed to work. He told her that was crazy and that she should not be coming in on the holidays.
