County Declares War on Hogs, Skunks
Come late January, it’s going to be raining rabies vaccine all over Fayette County, county judge Ed Janecka told commissioners court Monday. During public comments, Janecka advised the public that the Department of State Health
Services Oral Rabies Vaccine Project will be dropping 150 baits per square mile from “five small white twin-engine planes
... flying 500 to 1000 feet above the ground ... in anywhere from 12 to 16 flights per day.” The baits are intended to be eaten by skunks which thereby become vaccinated for rabies.
