William “Bill” J. Glaiser, 76, of La Grange died Monday, Dec. 24, 2018. Bill was born in La Grange on Sept. 24, 1942, the son of William (Pete) Glaiser and Lila Schultz Glaiser. He was baptized on Feb. 13, 1943 at Waldeck by Reverand Baer and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church by Reverand Traugott. He married Katherine Kleiber Glaiser on May 30, 1964. This union was blessed with their son Ronald. As a young man, he enjoyed looking for old bottles and Indian artifacts with his brothers Dan and Bob.

Bill and Kathy loved going to sporting, school, and church events to watch Lila participate and excel, especially at softball. When his eyesight began to fail him, he still enjoyed going to her games.

Bill and Kathy were avid collectors of old tools, oil cans, and their favorite: Frankoma pottery. They traveled most of the fifty states searching for antiques and collectibles to add to their collections. Going to the Frankoma factory in Oklahoma was one of their favorite vacation spots.

Bill was a very well-liked and respected teacher. After his graduation from Sam Houston State University, he began his teaching and coaching career at Sheridan.

He and Kathy then returned home for him to teach and coach at La Grange High School. Due to his health, he had to take an early retirement in 1990. Bill and Kathy then became partners with Kathy’s sister at Pratho’s Store in Giddings. They were in the retail business for many years.

Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Kathy; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and JoLynn Glaiser; granddaughter, Lila Ellen, all of La Grange; two step-grandsons: Dillon and Jacob; two brothers: Bob Glaiser of Katy and Dan Glaiser of La Grange; sister-in-law, Betty Pratho of Giddings; brother-inlaw, Donnie Kleiber and wife, Billie, of Alvin; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Nicholas Glaiser and brother-in-law, John Pratho. Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 from 2 to 7 p.m. The family received guests from 5 to 7 p.m.
