Leona Barbara (Mulner) Roitsch
Leona Barbara (Mulner) Roitsch, 82, of La Grange, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at St. Mark’s Medical Center. Leona was born in Shenandoah, Pa. on Oct. 27, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Tach) Mulner. While working at the Pentagon, she met the love of her life Clarence “Tex” Roitsch. They married on May 5, 1956 in Portland, Oregon.
After Tex retired from USAF, the family moved to La Grange, Texas. In 1971, Leona opened Tex-Lee Ceramics. She touched the hearts of many through her love of teaching ceramics. She was also the NOAA Weather Observer for Fayette County for the past 30 plus years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Lone Star Chapter of the China- Burma-India Veterans Association. Leona loved being a military wife and Christian mother. She enjoyed traveling. She was very active with the Officer’s Wives Club and there began her love for Bridge which continued throughout her life. Some of her favorite times were spent playing Bridge with her close friends. She always had a contagious smile that inspired everyone around her. She is survived by son, Bill Roitsch and wife, Lisa, of Conroe; daughter, Cheryl Roitsch
and husband, Mick Barosh, of El Campo; step son, John Roitsch and wife, Mary, of Denver, CO; sister, Marian Litwak of
Cherry Hill, NJ; two sisters-inlaw: Eva Roitsch of La Grange and Evelyn Roitsch of San Antonio; three granddaughters:
Carissa, Loryn and Kaleigh Roitsch; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends: Lupe Scott, Kathy
Roberts, Mary Janca; Barbara Greenwood and Donna Wessels. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; two sisters: Betty Aponik and Helen Burge; brother, Eddie Mulner; and grandson, James Ryan Roitsch.
Visitation was held on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 from 12 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received
friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013. A private burial will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial
