Euna Faye (Johnson) Caswell

Euna Faye (Johnson) Caswell, 90, of La Grange, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018. Faye was born in Valera, Coleman County on March 12, 1928, the daughter of George Hambrick and Mary Catherine (Patterson) Johnson. Faye moved to Houston in 1942. She was a Reagan Red Coat and did art work for the yearbooks. She married Earl Harding Caswell and was blessed with four children whom she dearly loved. In 1978, she and Earl retired to Tow, Texas where she worked on the shores of Lake Buchanan as an accomplished artist specializing in Hill Country landscapes. She was an award winner, as well as a judge, and had many works in worldwide calendar distributions. Faye presented her calendar painting to Mrs. Rita and Governor Bill Clements. Along with other accolades, her work included being placed in the Texas State Archives. Faye had an honorary degree in Fine Arts from Texas Tech University. She was a former President of Highland Lakes Arts Council and a former President of Buchanan Arts and Crafts. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and eligible to be a Daughter of the American Revolution. Faye was a resident of La Grange for 18 years. She is survived by two sons: Johnny E. Caswell and wife, JoAnn, of La Grange; Dick Allen Caswell and wife, Sammie, of League City; daughter, Donna E. Caswell Maas and husband, Michael, of Columbus; sister, June Wilborn; and a very special friend, Bill Turner, who always stopped by with a warm hello and helping hand to her and husband, Earl; twentyone grandchildren; twentyone great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; daughter, Earlene Caswell Harmon and her husband, Lucian Frost Harmon; four sisters: Wilma Joyce, Mary Pauline Johnson, Audrey Adilene Stevens and Peggy LaJean Burell; four brothers: Gerald Benton Johnson, Leamon Earl Johnson, Floyd Odell Johnson and George Allen Johnson; great grandson, James Kenneth Kaptchinskie and great-great grandson, Jayden Allen Roach. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Funeral services will follow beginning at 2 p.m. A burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
