Mary Elizabeth Canik, 85, of Fayetteville, died Jan. 9, 2019 at Trucare Living Centers in Columbus. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsburg. Mary was born to Herman Cox and Grace Higdon on April 7, 1933 in Eddyville, Ky. She worked as a butcher. She raised her 7 brothers and sisters while her father was a preacher. Then met the love of her life and raised 3 kids. Mary was very gentle and kind to everyone. Generous never asked for anything in return just wanted to help in anyway she could. Her favorite hobby was gardening and she loved flowers. She is survived by her sons, Rick and wife Shirley Hall and son Patrick Hall; brothers, Charles Cox, Douglas Cox; sister, Becky Cox; grandchildren, Robert Hall, Chrissy Villareal, Shane Hall, Bryan Ward, Tammy Lynn, Todaro, and Heather Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Garza, Jonathon Gurrola, Cameron Smith, Blake Ward, Kaysie Ward, Bayley Ward, Robert Hall Jr., Ariel Kellyah, Chance Jr. Jayden Swain, Emma Kayler, Addison Todaro, Austin Hall, and Krya Hall. She is preceded in death by her parents Grace and Herman Cox, Husband Ramond Canik, siblings Themla Anderson, Jamex Homer Cox, Joyce Soden, Doris Cox, Children Diana Hall and Grandchildren David Ward,and Ricky Hall Jr. Family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Judes Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 and a “Thanks” to TLC in Columbus for taking care of her in her final days. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
