Sammy’s Employees Left Unpaid After Abrupt Closure

The State of Texas isn’t the only one waiting for a check from Sammy’s Sports Grill.

According to former kitchen manager Mark Landry, he and the other employees at the business’s La Grange location never got their last paycheck after the bar and grill got shut down for unpaid taxes last month.

The Texas Comproller’s Office seized the La Grange Sammy’s location on Jan. 28 for unpaid alcohol and sales taxes totaling over $79,000.

Landry said he has tried reaching out to owner Sammy Vela but has not gotten an answer to if or when the employees in La Grange might get paid.
