We are told in Proverbs 13:12 that “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”
After that first dinner in October of 1971, Susan returned to Atlanta and her studies at Emory. The young attorney went home to Mobile. But shortly after, he came to see her in Atlanta and a true courtship began.
It was during the ensuing weeks that she began learning some very startling facts about the suitor who had entered her life so magically. She knew he was an attorney, that he had two degrees from Tulane and was a member of the Alabama, American, and Federal Bar Associations. She knew that he worked in a family owned firm. But what she did not know was his amazing family background. He slowly began to reveal this during their long distance dating–him traveling to see her in Atlanta and her traveling to see him in Mobile.
