Miles of Memories

I have finished putting away Christmas cards and adding address changes to my file. I sent only a few cards and received less, as well. It seems we are getting away from the old practice with social media becoming so popular. One thing was different this Christmas of 2018. I did not take down our Christmas tree and inside decorations and carry them downstairs for storage.

Why? You ask. Because this year, I did not have the heart to carry the artificial tree with all its lights and ornaments up the stairs and work for days dressing it, putting Standing Santas and Angels in all their places throughout the house or hanging all the decorated garlands. I ‘did’ the front porch and that was it.

You see. 2018 has been a most painful year for me. I have lost a childhood friend, four very close friends and two family members (all to cancer) with four of those deaths coming during the past four months. While my grief is still so raw, I can still celebrate (and did) our Savior’s birth without going through all the other trappings. Today, I begin a brandnew year and I am glad.
