Miles of Memories

You have read in the paper and in my first book about my life-long struggle with bad hair. Donna Rohde kept my locks trimmed while I lived in La Grange and even perfected a style that was presentable for my first several years there until I started cancer treatment which destroyed it all again. No problem—I was thankful to be ALIVE and just learned to don a wig when out in public.

You know I am the sole caregiver for my husband who suffers from an incurable auto-immune disease. Well, the last two years I have spent one day a week sitting with a neighbor who suffers from aphasia in order to give her husband a break to play golf … his only “relief time.” They have a young granddaughter who sometimes comes over and a few weeks ago she became my new beauty consultant. At first, she was intrigued by my crazy eye make-up and wanted to try her hand at that. Next, she removed my wig and went to work on my biggest problem … my thin hair! What she lacks in experience, she makes up for with style and flair.
