The swirling, muddy flood waters of the Colorado River at the end of October and first few days of November submerged the landing and boat ramp just below the Business 71 bridge in La Grange for several days.

Thousands of visitors flocked Sunday to the little Fayette County hamlet of Praha, for that community’s 53rd annual Veterans memorial event. Nine men from the Praha area died in WWII and to honor their memory, locals have longheld an event on the Sunday before Veterans Day.

What was to have been wine tasting business at 730 E. Colorado Street in La Grange has been rented to several women involved with Herbalife products who are using it as a juice bar. It’s called Alegria Fit and is the brainchild of Dulce Silguero, Liz Loera and Lorena Silguero.

Reflecting statewide results, Fayette County voters approved all seven proposed amendments to the 1876 Texas Constitution by large margins Tuesday. According to elections administrator Dina Bell, the local turnout was 2,032 out of a total of 15, 732 registered voters.

Fayette County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Tommy Tipton announced his immediate retirement from office on Monday, November 2. Tipton won his first election in 2002 following a long career in law enforcement and has served as Justice of the Peace for the Flatonia precinct since then.
