Susan Joan (Foster) Barnes, 61, of Carmine, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. Susan was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on May 7, 1956, the daughter of Robert E. Foster and Joan Marie (Massmann) Foster. She grew up in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania and moved to Chicago when she was in the second grade.

James Charles Ephraim was born on Oct. 28, 1921 in Winchester on family land known as the Post Oak to Levine and Hulda (Schmidt) Ephraim. He was baptized on July 15, 1923 by Pastor Hermann Schmidt and was confirmed at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church on March 21, 1937 by Rev. Louis A. Trinklein.

Funeral services for Mary Smith, 91, of Giddings, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Gracie Ann (Heaton) Myers, 56, of Round Top, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018. Gracie was born in Ft. Worth on Aug. 14, 1961, the daughter of Walter E. and Vera (Jenkins) Heaton. She married David Myers on May 17, 1986 at the First Baptist Church in La Grange.

Robert Paul Streiff, 84, of Round Top, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2018. Robert (“Bob”) was born in Freeport, Illinois on June 23, 1933, the son of William and Theresa (Michel) Streiff.

Sanford Quest Schmid, age 98, of La Grange formerly of the Shelby, Texas area passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Sanford was born in the Schoeneau area of Austin County on Nov. 20, 1919.

Royce Henry Meiners, 78, of Ledbetter died Feb. 11, 2018. Royce was born on April 24, 1939 in La Grange to Willie F. Meiners and Esther A. Schlabach Meiners. He served his country in the United States Army and was a retired machinist.

Bernard Muras died peacefully at his home on Feb. 12, 2018 in the company of his wife and family. Born Aug. 20, 1930, Bernard was raised in the Black Jack community – present day O’Quinn area. He was the eldest of seven children born to Martha Svec and Cyril Muras, Sr.

Kermit A. Muske, 92, of Houston and recently living in Rutersville, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. Kermit died peacefully at home with his wife and family at his side. Kermit was born in Winedale on May 8, 1925.

Hans Georg Schroeter, 92, of Bellaire (formerly of Fayetteville), died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Hans was born in Insterburg, Germany on Feb. 27, 1925 the son of Otto Gustav Schroeter and Else Kathe (David) Schroeter. He grew up in Dusseldorf Germany.
