The best season for Flatonia football since 1988 came to a close on a cold, rainy night in Giddings as the Bulldogs lost to Burton 41-20 in the 2A Division II State quarterfinals. “We had a great year,” said Flatonia head coach Chris Freytag. “I’m so proud of this group.”

High School basketball season has really heated up. Action is happening all over the hardwoods in and around Fayette County. Tuesday the La Grange girls play at state-ranked Weimar while the Leopards host Austin Regents at 7 p.m.

The close games just keep on coming for the Lady Leps basketball team.
After a Rice Tournament that included two wins but a trio of close losses (of four defeats overall) for the La Grange girls, the Lady Leps returned home Monday and edged Bellville 54-53.

BRENHAM – Going into last Friday’s 2A area round playoff game with Snook, the Flatonia Bulldog football team had a remarkable streak of five consecutive games in which they had scored 42 or more points.
Now that streak of offensive power is up to six games.
