In June, Kaleigh Blaschke from Schulenburg High School, and Colton Roscher from La Grange High School will be in Washington, D.C., expanding their horizons by exploring the monuments on the National Mall, shaking hands with elected officials and dancing on a boat on the Potomac River.

Long-time Fayetteville Mayor Ronnie Pflughaupt will not run for reelection in May. Two others have filed for a spot on the ballot, Stephen Cushing and Councilwoman Liz Fritsch. Stephen Cushing’s wife Lynda holds the Place 4 seat on the Council. Fritsch holds the Place 1 seat.

Fayette County resident Harriet Hemmil was in stable condition at St. David’s Hospital- South Tuesday morning after her 1994 Ford Ranger flipped three times and landed upsidedown on SH 237 in front of Round Top Farm & Ranch Monday at 10:45 a.m.

For 67 years Frank and Sireta Michalak have been celebrating Valentine’s Day together as husband and wife. “Not bad,” said Frank, 91. Tuesday’s celebration was a little extra special.

One more candidate filed for a spot on the ballot in the La Grange city election. Ken Taylor filed his intention to run for the Ward 1 seat, currently occupied by Alderman Arnold Romberg. Romberg announced last month that he would not seek re-election.
