Four people have died in two wrecks on US 77 south of Schulenburg since road work began on the highway last March.
Texas Department of Transportation told the Record this week that highway officials were taking a close look at the stretch of roadway following the deadly accidents.

A garbage truck belonging to Republic Services knocked over a light pole on the courthouse square in La Grange on Friday, March 10. The accident happened around 10 a.m. The garbage truck was heading south on Main Street and attempted to turn east on Colorado Street when it struck the pole.
