Diane Becker’s La Grange High School government class conducted a mock trial in the Fayette County Courthouse on Tuesday, March 7. Becker’s students played the roles of judge, prosecutors, defense attorneys, victims, defendant and witnesses.

On Thursday March 2 around noon, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit, including Sgt. Randy Thumann and his canine partner Lobos, stopped a Ford F-150 on Interstate 10 at the 658 mile-marker for a traffic violation.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, 86-year-old Dean Troutman began walking a 1,200 mile trip from Yoakum to his home in Princeville, Illinois. Troutman’s Trek came to an unfortunate end just south of La Grange on Friday, March 3.

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, now a resident of Round Top, recently presented this cross, which was cut from a gutter from the World Trade Center’s North Tower which was destroyed on 9-11, to Carolyn McNellie, co-owner of Espressions Coffee & Art in Round Top.

Lori Granum, who has owned The Oaks restaurant in Warrenton for twenty years, said traffic, especially 18-wheelers on SH 237 in front of her place, has increased tremendously during that time.

It was Mardi Gras time at the Second Chance Emporium, La Grange’s nonprofit thrift store. Proudly wearing the bling at the shop on West Travis Street was (left to right) Marilyn Gibson, Lil Landry, Carol Olson and Linda Grigsby. The shop is open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The approaching fifth La Grange Uncorked Annual Food & Wine Festival will mark a new era with events all weekend and now integrating a children’s activity to its lineup.
The fest kicks off March 17-19 on the Square in downtown.
