By ANDY BEHLEN The La Grange ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Stacy Eilers as the new assistant superintendent at a special meeting on April 27. Eilers previously served the district as principal of Hermes Elementary and Intermediate Schools.

By ELAINE THOMAS For 44 years, Eugene Hollas took great pride in delivering the U.S. mail to more than 500 patrons on Route 1, Schulenburg. They liked to say he was so punctual they could set their clocks by his arrival.
The Texas Department of Transportation is strongly encouraging drivers to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” and avoid driving over any roads that are covered with water. As the forecast calls for more scattered showers, flooding could continue to impact many of the state’s roadways.

By H.H. HOWZE Monday, La Grange received the most rainfall in one day in recorded history – 10.78 inches according to the National Weather Service. It beat the previous record (set 76 years ago) by more than an inch.
