By ANDY BEHLEN St. Mark’s Medical Center CEO Rick Montelongo confirmed Wednesday that his hospital fell victim to a computer ransomware attack. He said the hospital paid approximately $18,000 in the digital currency bitcoin to regain control of its computer system.

By H.H. HOWZE Tents are going up at the Fayette County Fairgrounds to house overnight BP MS-150 riders and supporters as tents come down for departing junktiques vendors in the Round Top-Warrenton area. The BP MS 150 is a two-day fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society.

A grass fire was extinguished Monday on Hatterman Lane by La Grange firefighters (above). It started when landowners were burning brush and wind blew the embers into nearby tress. Another blaze on Tuesday near the corner of Zapalac Rd. and Cattle Trail was swiftly handled by the Ellinger VFD.

An estimated 3,000 people crowded the streets of Schulenburg for the third annual Schulenburg Sausagefest. Organizers are still gathering final sales figures from all the vendors, but according to preliminary numbers the non profit groups collected tens of thousands of dollars at the event.

By ANDY BEHLEN St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange experienced what it is calling a “network security incident” on Sunday, March 20. St. Mark’s CEO Rick Montelongo said the hospital has no evidence any patient information was compromised.
