Extra chairs had to be brought out, and at times tempers flared Wednesday night during a discussion both for and against the proposed health clinic that is being considered for the old Fayette Memorial Hospital Building in La Grange.

Last month the La Grange-based Texas Women’s League gave out a whopping $81,000 in grants to area non-profit groups. The money for these donations came from the TWL’s annual gala. The TWL has now given out over $700,000 in donations since their first gala back in 2004.

Leroy Wetjen was honored last week Friday and Saturday by Honor Flight Austin on Honor Flight #25- Temple “TR” Kennedy 2 flight. He was greeted at the airport by his “guardian” for the trip, Guy Stevenson.

La Grange Police arrested 21-year-old Shaquille Laquan Oliver of Weimar for allegedly threatening a female juror at the courthouse following the JaKyle Harris trial last Wednesday.

After a three-day trial that ended well into the evening on Wednesday, June 3, a Fayette
County jury found JaKyle Harris of Weimar guilty of reckless manslaughter for the shooting
death of Dustin “Duck” Donovan Smith of New Ulm. Smith was 19 years old at the time.
