WarnCentralTexas.org uses the Everbridge Emergency Notification System, a fast communication service allowing jurisdictions within the Capital Area Council of Governments’ ten-county region (CAPCOG) Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson Counties — to notify residents, business owners and visitors of emergency situations. The system, which CAPCOG generally refers to as the regional notification system (RNS), provides mass notifications quickly and easily. The RNS can notify people about local emergencies in a variety of ways, including on their cell phones, home and work phones and by text messaging and email.

Six graduating seniors from area high schools will each receive a $1,500 scholarship from Fayette Electric Cooperative’s 2020 Rural Scholarship Program, announced David Lehmann, president of the FEC board of directors and Gary Don Nietsche, general manager of the Cooperative.

The ladies at Navidad Valley Community Connections continue to be busy working from home on mask creations. The group is following CDC guidelines for masks, the material used is varied. All three are layered and 100 percent cotton. The ladies have completed most community organizational requests, so NVCC will consider making masks for individuals, especially the elderly.

The Schulenburg Public Library will start limited curbside service on May 12. Curbside service will be available from Tuesday through Friday.

Cody Lane Lyons and Remli Elizabeth Price were married Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. at The Wedding Tree at Live Oak Creek Ranch in Muldoon. Their ceremony was officiated by Pastor Will Martin of Muldoon Baptist Church.

Following Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent executive order on the phased reopening of the state of Texas, the Diocese of Austin, under the leadership of Bishop Joe S. Vásquez, notified parishes today they may resume the public celebration of Mass on May 5. As they open, Bishop Vásquez has asked parishes to follow protocols that are consistent with the governor’s and attorney general’s recommendations.

Milton Gullick had a birthday surprise on Thursday morning. In this time of social isolation his kids managed to wish him Happy Birthday in a special way. They set up a big “Happy 75th Birthday Dad” in front of his house to help him celebrate. Creativity has come out during this time of social distancing.
