Ben Chovanec of Ellinger has always loved history, so in the early1950s on Sunday visits he willingly pulled up a chair at the bedside of his maternal grandfather, Ernest Coufal. The frail, bedridden old soldier recounted stories about his World War I service that Ben has never forgotten.
