September rains of 3.61 inches fell on the annual Fayette County Fair, part of the wettest week in La Grange since June 16-23 when 7.11 inches were recorded. Most of the deluge came Saturday night and Sunday morning during the fair’s peak attendance periods.

A 1960 Chevrolet stolen from the Jimmy Pratt home about a mile and a half south of Carmine on Sunday morning was recovered a short time later between Round Top and Carmine pretty well wrecked. A 17-year-old Houston youth was in jail charged with auto theft.

Aug. 2-6, 1968
A typewriter valued at $60 was stolen from W. W. Motor Co. in Flatonia during the night of July 17. Two suspects were apprehended in Baytown, Texas, in a stolen car with the typewriter in their possession.
