Caldwell blew open a close game with a strong third quarter and downed the La Grange boys basketball team 72-58 Tuesday night at Lep Gym.

Late in the third quarter Friday a Caldwell girls basketball player saw a clear opening to the goal and didn’t hesitate.

She drove to the rim, and made a wide-open shot – in the wrong basket.

The Lady Leps gladly accepted the two-point gift even though they didn’t need it.

The new year didn’t start out so well for the La Grange boys basketball team.

Lacking the offensive punch the Leps had in their final several games of 2017, La Grange really struggled to score points in their first game of 2018, falling to Bellville 50-35 Friday at home.

As he left the Walmart parking lot Tuesday, La Grange Policeman Bret Meinardus pulled up behind a suspect’s vehicle and turned on the red and blue lights.

The car quickly pulled over and Meinardus got out and approached the driver’s side window.

Fans get their money’s worth at La Grange girls basketball games this season.

Nearly half of the Lady Leps games this season have been decided by three points or less, including Friday’s 40-37 loss at home to Columbus.
