La Grange High School’s Mighty Leopard Band started marching practices last week. Band director Ramon Parker, who begins his first season with the band this year, said about 115 student-musicians came out for the band this summer.

A fire at Red Vault Bistro in Flatonia on Sunday, Aug. 8, caused thousands of dollars in damage. Owners Gabriel Martinot and Elizabeth Muguira said the restaurant will likely stay closed two months for repairs.
