In a decision that left some local leaders “blind-sided” and some expectant families “heartbroken” St. Mark’s Medical Center Board of Directors announced Friday the planned closure of obstetric (childbirth) services effective September 30, 2017.

It is with great sadness that I share the news that St Mark’s Medical Center’s Birthing Center will be closing on September 30. This decision has devastated me. I had planned to continue delivering babies in this community for many years to come.

The National Weather Service issued a flood update at 10 p.m. The agency now predicts the river to crest at 51.3 feet tomorrow afternoon, Monday Aug. 28.
Thats nearly two feet higher than previous prediction, and just five feet below the all time record of 56.7 feet.
The LCRA is now predicting the Colorado River to crest at 49.1 feet on Monday at 7 am. That would be about 7 feet higher than the Memorial Day weekend flooding last year and the highest the river has reached since 1935.
