Work on the inside of this portion of a shopping center on Travis St. in front of Walmart in La Grange has been fast and furious as a Domino’s Pizza location is set to open there this summer.

Everyone is invited to the Harvest and Plow Day this Saturday, May 20, in Ledbetter. The event is put on by the Texas Horse and Mule Association. The event takes place at 4240 Goehring Rd. just south of US 290 in Ledbetter. The event begins at 9 a.m.

The debate in La Grange over mobile and modular homes has raised some questions among citizens. Among those, some folks are wonder who is behind the modular home at Horton and Travis streets.

For the third month in a row, La Grange sales tax revenue is up from the same month last year. It’s a welcome change from the declines the local economy has suffered for most of the past two years.

Tragedy struck the Round Top-Carmine High School this week. Justin Hernandez, a sophomore at the school, died from a gunshot wound on Monday evening, May 15. A 22-year-old San Antonio man, Eduardo Hernandez, was charged with manslaughter in connection with the shooting.

Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Dan Mueller (right) delivers the oath of office to newly elected Schulenburg Mayor Otto Kocian. Kocian defeated incumbent Roger Moellenberndt (seated at left) in the May 6 election. New council members Chip Bubela and Wendy Fietsam were also sworn-in at the meeting.

Two marijuana reform bills died in the Texas House of Representatives last week. However, those failures won’t affect plans by Cansortium Texas to bring a cannabis dispensary operation to the Schulenburg area.

Several La Grange citizens raised concerns at a City Council meeting Monday night about three non-traditional structures recently erected around the City.
