Betty Dean Powell, 75, of La Grange, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. Betty was born in Galena Park on June 2, 1943, the daughter of Clovis Calvin “C.C.” Dean and Claudia Clotiel (Jane) Dean. She married Ken Powell on July 12, 1962 at Galena Park First Baptist Church.

Rosendo Romero Barron, 53, of West Point, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. Rosendo was born in Mexico on Aug. 29, 1965, the son of Antonio and Guadalupe (Romero) Barron. He married Maria Ramirez on Dec. 15, 1990 in Mexico. He was a truck driver for 22 years.

Funeral services for Sitaben Desai, 89 of Giddings, were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Sitaben Desai was born in India on July 31, 1929 to Khushalbhai and Bhikhiben Patel.

Funeral services for Eloyce Wilson, 64, of Giddings, are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Ledbetter with Rev. Fred Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Candelaria “Cande” (Arellano) Philips, 93, of La Grange, started her journey home on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018. Cande was born in Shiner on Feb. 2, 1925, the daughter of Polycarpo and Juanita (Viera) Arellano. Cande was very patriotic.

Malcolm Bruce Koepnick, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sept. 24, 2018 in Schulenburg. He was 92 years old. Most friends and family knew him as Mike. He was born in Palestine to Alfred Oscar Koepnick and Maybelle Reaves.
