In the midst of all the feel-good efforts that happen in the aftermath of a natural disaster like the recent flooding in La Grange, there is also the bad.
A local woman who works in La Grange and does not live anywhere near the flooding recently had a knock on her door.
At a La Grange City Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 25, City manager Shawn Raborn said the City has incurred $183,201 in expenses related to the flood so far. He estimated the City will incur another $100,000 before the fiscal year ends next month.

The folks affected by the historic flooding in La Grange probably have some priorities higher than paying their utility bills. Thankfully, they won’t have to worry about their August bill.

The Austin Service Center of Tzu Chi Foundation provided gift cards and blankets to La Grange families affected by last month’s flood. The Tzu Chi Foundation is the world’s largest Buddhist charity.
