Pastor Jonathan Smith of La Grange First Baptist Church traveled to LaGrange, Indiana, on Thursday, Sept. 7, to meet with community leaders who are interested in assisting impacted residents of La Grange, Texas. That town is the county seat of LaGrange county (they don’t use a space).

Fayette County Judge Ed Janecka told the Record this week that county and city officials from around the area are working to form a permanent disaster response team.
About 41 people remained in the La Grange Second Baptist Church flood shelter as of 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1. City Manager Shawn Raborn said Mayor Janet Moerbe was working with religious leaders in town to find short-term accommodations for the remaining displaced.
Some residents of the hardest hit flooded areas of La Grange, Country Way Village and The Oaks mobile home parks, started re-entering their neighborhood in stages Thursday morning. Colorado Landing residents were allowed back Friday.
