Jennifer Zaruba is the new owner and operator of Frogs & Flamingos Florist at 101 W. Colorado St. in La Grange. The friendly little flowershop on the corner was founded by her mother, Elaine Zbranek, 13 years ago.

Chef Mike Morphew worked in the kitchens of Buckingham Palace cooking for the Royal Family. He holds the title “Master Chef ” in the Cookery and Food Association and has gained gold medals in the international culinary competitions.

The former Life Chek Drug location in La Grange (110 E. Travis St.) is now Pharm House Drug. Both Pharm House and Life Chek are relatively small retail pharmacy chains.

Precipitation has been a bit scarce since a high pressure system settled in over the state in May. No significant amount of rain fell anywhere in Fayette County since then. There was even talk of a burn ban.

Colorado River fishing and waterfowling guide Ronny Ray, who lives near Plum, invited yours truly to take a trip on the river last week. We were initially scheduled for the week before, but the water came up and the river got big and muddy.
