• Hoover moved to Flatonia to find “a big affordable place” to house his collection of 57,000 books, plus he’s a railroad buff.

Care Inn, the nursing home facility in La Grange which was flooded in late August by Hurricane Harvey, is back in operation after a remediation effort that cost “upward of two million dollars” according to administrator Bill Nicholson. It shows.
The place looks and smells new.

Over the construction noise Monday, the Record held a conversation with Cindy Johnson, the new owner with her husband Randy, of The Market at 116 N. West Main in Flatonia, a new grocery at the former site of Migl’s grocery. The coolers and merchandising shelves are being installed this week.
