The VFW Hall at the Fayette County Fairgrounds continues to be a gathering place or home for veterans of recent wars. However, today the VFW Hall in La Grange serves as a haven for the displaced and continuing victims of this summer’s Hurricane Harvey.

Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to La Grange on Monday, October 16, to the Fayette County Fairgrounds located at 400 W. Fairgrounds Road, sponsored by the La Grange Optimist Club, with scheduled performances at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
Another antiques fair is in the books. There is nothing left along SH 237 but tattered tents and shade shelters and dealers loading out the goods they weren’t able to sell. They will bring it all back next March.
A few false rumors concerning the August flood have been floating around La Grange. Last Friday the Record spoke with La Grange assistant city manager Frank Menefee, who dispelled the false information.

A century-old farm house on Dubina Weimar Road burned to the ground Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 3. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Schulenburg Fire Chief Jeff Proske said it likely started from lightning.
No one lived in the home and there were no injuries.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange is sharing its pews with the congregation from St. James Episcopal Church for a few weeks after the discovery of mold in the historic St. James bell tower.
