While area church volunteers are serving food to the La Grange evacuees still affected by Hurricane Harvey, other volunteers are helping the evacuees by rebuilding their homes that have been flood ravaged.

Round Top-Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department is proud to invite the community to their open house on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon to celebrate the completion of their new fire station located at 208 N. Live Oak St. in Round Top.

Flood evacuees Virginia and Daniel Olenick ate lasagne last Thursday evening at the Food and Fellowship event in the VFW Hall. It was hosted by area church volunteers from the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn and Sts.Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum.

A group of Plum residents are asking Fayette County to clean some old drainage ditches. The drainage problems in Plum gained attention following Hurricane Harvey, which turned the flat river bottom around Plum into a shallow lake for a few days in late August.
