It was a “honyock” hullabaloo at the Schulenburg KC Hall on Saturday, June 30.
“Honyock” is a word sometimes used to affectionately describe stubborn Texas Czechs.
Hundreds of polka music fans filled the hall for the 30th anniversary party for the Texas Polka News.

The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Picnic takes place in Ammannsville this Sunday, June 17. The parish will serve its famous fried chicken and sausage meal begining at 11 a.m. The Moravians and the Ennis Czech Boys will provide musical entertainment throughout the day.

Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative is putting up four tall communications towers around the area in county road rights-of-way. One resident in Swiss Alp said the tower near his property constitutes a traffic hazard and wants the county to stop the project.

The grand opening of the new VA Clinic in La Grange took place on Thursday, June 7, but it almost didn’t happen. A year earlier, on June 8, 2017, the VA held a town hall meeting in La Grange in which agency officials announced their plans to close the old La Grange Clinic.
