Veterans groups including Schulenburg American Legion McBride Post No. 143, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5623, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 held the annual Schulenburg Memorial Day Service at Wolters Park on Monday, May 28.

An eagle took flight in a stream of hot metal, rising from a steel plate at J&J Metalworks this week. It was one of 10 art pieces the company is creating for the auction at the Back Yard Bull Bash this Sunday, May 27, which benefits the Ronald McDonald House.

Joe Weber will be the next Fayette County Judge. He won the Republican primary runoff election on Tuesday, May 22. He will not face a Democrat challenger in the November General Election. Weber collected 61.24 percent of the vote.

A collision involving two big rigs west of La Grange shut down the eastbound lanes of SH 71 all afternoon on Tuesday, May 22. The cleanup, which took about five hours, involved cutting one of the 18-wheelers apart and removing the pieces with a crane.
