The Schulenburg girls basketball players ran through a wide range of emotions in a few minutes Thursday in the Alamodome as they were presented their state bronze medals after falling in the 3A state semifinals to Shallowater. Lots more on the game in Section B today.

Several recent events, including a teen suicide, have spurred some discussion about mental health issues in Fayette County, especially as it relates to schools. Recently a mother of a teen suicide victim shared her suggestions with a local school board. This is obviously an important topic we want to keep the public informed and engaged about. As Phase Two of construction at the La Grange Elementary/Intermediate campus gets underway, several buildings were torn down this week, including buildings that used to house the music room, nurse’s office and a number of portable buildings that have been used for decades. The Best Little Quilt Show in Texas drew hundreds of locals and tourists alike to the KC Hall Friday and Saturday as attendees admired dozens of beautifully made quilts. But the top award went to this quilt “Tulips in the Garden” by Lou Ellen Hassold of Normangee and quilted by Valerie Wagner, which was named Best of Show. More quilt show results in Friday’s Record.
