Funeral services for Ruby Helen Brewer, 84, of Ellinger were held Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in La Grange with interment following in the Ellinger Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m.

Justin Ty Hernandez, 17, of Bellville, died Monday, May 15, 2017, in Ledbetter. He was born on April 30, 2000, in Katy, the son of Tracy Wendt Corum and Jerry Hernandez. Justin grew up and attended schools in Bellville.

Marie Kruppa Von Minden was born July 12, 1950 in La Grange, Texas to Frank and Georgia Kruppa. She died May 15, 2017 at Care Inn Nursing Center surrounded by loving family and friends. Marie was a local resident of La Grange her whole life.

Calvin Alphonso Soriero was born on March 8, 1948 in Washington DC and died on May 14, 2017 in San Antonio. His parents were Calvin Soriero (born in Providence, R.I.) and Margaret Beverly Soriero (born in Austin). Cal had three nicknames - “Joe”, “Howdy”, and “Fella”.

Nellie Frances (Gates) Wiist, 92, of Flatonia, died Friday, May 5, 2017. Nellie was born in Hoopeston, Ill. on Feb. 25, 1925, the daughter of Samuel and Clarissa Matilda (Moore) Gates.

On Thursday morning at 10:42 a.m., Eric Ryan Elias of La Grange, 45, born June 27, 1971, died in Austin at St. Davids Medical Center. He was a great father, husband, son, and friend.

Loretta Jane (Gaeke) Ehler, 55, died on May 2, 2017. Loretta was born in Giddings on Sept. 19, 1961 to William and Mary Lou Gaeke. She married David Ehler on Oct. 9, 1982 and they had three children together.

Jeffery Wayne Pelt, 53, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Houston. Jeff was born on Nov. 12, 1963 in Bryan, and lived in Duncanville, Midlothian, Montgomery, La Grange, and Houston, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station.
