Fayette County Retired Teachers kicked off the new school year with an old-fashioned ice cream social. Fifty-four members met in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church on Monday, Sept. 11. Nine of ten newly retired teachers were present.

Artist Grant Manier loves to share his talent and serve as a role model for young people who live with learning differences. At a very young age, Grant had a passion for paper. He would sort it into piles and play with it. This behavior was likely related to his autism.

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society will host the 29th Annual Wendish Fest on Sunday, Sept. 24. The event will be held at the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum Complex and the St. Paul Lutheran Church picnic grounds at Serbin.

The annual Fayette County 4-H Banquet was held on Sunday, Aug. 20 at the Historic Casino Hall. There were 175 4-H members, parents, volunteers, and special guests in attendance.
