The sound of clippers buzzing through hair once again spilled out of the doorway at 237 W. Travis Street last Friday, the site of Ken’s Barber Shop on the La Grange Courthouse Square. Inside, barbers Ken Jurecka and Floyd Weishuhn worked on a pair of customers who’ve waited nearly two months for a trim. Another customer waited outside the door.

Five more people tested positive for coronavirus in Fayette County. Fayette County Office of Emergency Management reported two new cases on Tuesday, May 5, and the three others the following day, May 6. All patients live in Pct. 3, the Flatonia area.

The La Grange Farmers Market again served as a stage in the debate over what exactly is an essential service. At the market last Saturday, April 25, Pct. 2 Constable Roger Wunderlich warned some vendors that they could be in violation of the state’s COVID-19 emergency orders.

The City of La Grange received a clean bill of financial health on Monday. Independent auditor Greg Trlicek presented the City’s 2019 financial audit in a City Council meeting held via teleconference on Monday, April 28.

Fayette County sent a cease and desist letter to a company installing a pipeline without proper permits. The company, Aspen Midstream, told the Record that it was attempting to comply with the County’s regulations while aiming to keep workers employed during the current economic crisis in the oil and gas industry.
