The Schulenburg Lady Horns made their second-ever appearance at the UIL State Girls Basketball Tournament in San Antonio on Thursday, March 5. The last time they made the state tournament was in 2003.

Fayette County Commissioners unanimously approved guidelines for future tax abatements at a meeting last Thursday, Feb. 27. The move clears the path for Candella Renewables to apply for tax incentives to build a proposed solar farm in the Muldoon area. Candella has indicated at a previous meeting that the project is not financially viable without tax incentives from the County and Flatonia Independent School District.

Assistant County Attorney Harold Streicher retired last week after 18 years of service to Fayette County. That service capped off an extraordinary four decades in the legal profession, which included winning one case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
