La Grange Mayor Janet Moerbe delivered the oath of office to new Police Chief David Gilbreath at the City Council meeting on Monday, December 12. Following the oath, retiring Police Chief Jackie Skelton pinned the chief’s badge onto Gilbreath’s uniform before the two of them shook hands.
La Grange City Manager Shawn Raborn presented this working draft of the new sign ordinance at the City Council meeting on Monday, December 12, 2016. Raborn asked Council to review the draft for possible changes.

Three La Grange women were arrested on drug charges on Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, while deputies from the Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a resident on North Washington Street.

On the front page of the January 1, 2016, issue of the Fayette County Record, an error appeared in the top-of-page headline: “2016 Officially the Wettest Year on Record.” Of course, the story was about the record 60.08 inches of rain that fell in 2015.

A crane crew was working this week to remove the canopy and fuel tanks from the La Grange Tetco convenience store, located near the intersection of Travis St. and Jefferson St. The business has been closed for over two years. 7-Eleven owns the property.
