James “Doc” Ayres, the University of Texas English professor who founded Shakespeare at Winedale at the instigation of Winedale founder Ima Hogg, barely drew a breath between turning his signature project over to his UT colleague James Loehlin and founding yet another project he dubbed Camp Shakespeare.

Round Top writer Sally Reynolds told the town council Monday that she is interviewing some longtime locals for a booklet of “recollections and remembrances” which will be produced and distributed leading up to the town’s sesquicentennial (150th) birthday celebration this summer. Ten thousand copies of the privately-funded 32 page effort will be printed by the Fayette County Record. About five thousand will be included with copies of the newspaper. The balance will be distributed to area libraries and businesses. In other business, the council:

About 100 people filled the long room at the Red & White Gallery in Fayetteville Sunday afternoon to hear three presentations on issues related to oil and gas development in Fayette County. The seminar was cosponsored by a women’s group known as the Lamplighters. The Red & White Gallery donated the use of their premises. Kai Jai Conner moderated the presentations. The speakers volunteered their time.
