Darla J. Blaha has announced her candidacy to run as a candidate for Fayette County Clerk. Born in La Grange to the late Lawrence and Nina Dean (Schellberg) Blaha, she attended school in Houston, but always maintained lifelong ties to La Grange.

Five Republicans filed for a place on the primary ballot for the Texas House District 13 election following incumbent Leighton Schubert’s surprise exit from the race.
An oversized load struck a telephone pole in Fayetteville Thursday morning, Dec. 7, knocking out telephone service in Fayetteville and Ellinger until late afternoon.
Fayette County is seeking $2.5 million in federal funds to buyout homes that were flooded after Hurricane Harvey. In addition, the county is seeking state funds to provide flooded homeowners with $150,000 grants to demolish and raise their homes.

In a magical weather event that had not happened in this area in years, pretty much all of Fayette County was blanketed by snow Thursday night. Most local areas received about an inch, but some folks in the Winchester area in the northern part of the county said they had about four inches.
